Sun, dust, wind and water are harder on a fan than a living room. A few simple habits keep outdoor fans working season after season.
SHELTER
Use under cover
Use fans in covered or sheltered outdoor areas. Bring them in or cover them when it rains, and store them indoors after the season.
GROUND
Stand them firmly
Place fans on firm, level ground and lock the wheels. In windy spots, use drum fans or keep stand fans at a low height.
POWER
Safe power outdoors
Use a grounded socket protected by a residual-current device (RCD / GFCI). Keep cables and plugs off wet ground.
WATER
Clean water, dry tank
Fill mist fan tanks with clean water. Drain and dry the tank when not in use, and clean the mist outlet so it doesn’t clog.
Don’t spray water on the motor or switch. Tell us where the fans will be used and we confirm the configuration before the order.

How do misting fans cool people outdoors?
The fan blows a fine water mist into the air. As the mist evaporates it takes heat from the air around people, so the breeze feels cooler. It works best in hot, dry weather.
Do misting fans work in humid climates?
They work less well, because humid air is already wet and the mist evaporates slowly. In humid places, use plain industrial fans, or place mist fans in open, well-ventilated spots.
Will a misting fan make people or tables wet?
Not when it is placed well. Put the fan at the edge of the seating area, let the mist blow across the space rather than straight at people, and keep some distance from tables and food.
Can I leave fans outside in the rain?
We don't recommend it. Use fans in covered or sheltered areas, bring them in or cover them when it rains, and store them indoors after the season.
What fans work best for an outdoor event or tent?
Mist fans for open-sided areas in dry weather, and drum fans or industrial stand fans inside tents. Fans on wheels or stands are quick to set up and move.
